GEM SMASHERS Company: Red Wagon Games Release: November 1, 2011 ESRB: E (Comic Mischief) April 24, 2012 This quite colorful game is much like the 2007 GBA game M&Ms: Break 'Em, in which your character is bouncing along an area hitting blocks that are the same color as your character, and there are different block colors as well as things that change the color of your character. The enemies come in the form of deadly blocks, which with one touch you die. They are black with a skull and crossbones and, as far as I know, no way to get rid of them, so avoiding them is your best bet. All my time with this game so far was spent in the "Color-cade" mode, a mode in which you play until you die a certain amount of times, which lives are displayed by the heart number. In Color-cade mode, you can get extra lives, but they are rare. A level is cleared when you smash all the blocks and get to the door where you started from. If you touch an enemy block, you start back at said door and your original color. As for difficulty, don't let the packaging or graphics fool you, it gets hard starting at aboutlevel 5 in color-cade mode. In terms of gameplay, this is a fun little game in short spurts, but I wouldn't find myself playing it for hours on end. rating: 7/10
