TETRIS: AXIS Company: Nintendo Release: October 2, 2011 ESRB: E October 27, 2011 Let me say first off that my favorite Tetris games are the NES and Game Boy versions. That being said, over the years IMO they have messed up the whole thing. The game, like so many other newer games, suffer from what I call the "up syndrome." That is when the game thinks you've pressed up when you really didn't mean to and therefore directly falls into place even though you weren't ready for it to do so. I want them to badly put an option to turn that feature off, but it seems like they never will. Anyway, that feature can be frustrating at higher levels, when precise control is needed. All I wanted this game for is the marathon mode, so I haven't yet checked out the other modes but, it plays very much like Tetris DS instead of Tetris Party Deluxe, probably because Nintendo has the license to both Tetris DS and Axis. Right now you're probably thinking "What about the 3D?" Well, it's not a 3D version of Tetris (Like "3D Tetris" for the Virtual Boy, although that would have been a cool mode to put in here.) and that being said, the game doesn't really feature any mind-blowing 3D aspects. But it is sort of fun, yet frustrating, and if I had a choice, I'd rather play the Game Boy version (which doesn't have the up syndrome), but that's just me. Rating: 7/10.
