-=ANTS=- Conceived, designed and programmed by Chris Read for enjoyment on your Atari® Video Computer System™ -=PLOT=- While Yoda was stuck on whatever planet he's on, his younger brother Melvin moved to Earth. But here he didn't face Stormtroopers or Imperial Walkers. No, his enemy was much worse. It was summer in the United States, and that means ants. Yes, a bunch of ants came into Melvin's living room! You gotta help Melvin get those evil ants out! -=HOW TO PLAY=- Put the thing into the thing. From the title screen, press fire & you'll be transported into Melvin's living room. All you have to do to get the ants is to touch them. If that was it, it wouldn't be a very interesting game, wouldn't it? So I added a timer and 4 lives (or chances). The life meter, the line to the right of the playfield shows how much lives you have left. If you don't get to an ant in a certain amount of time (a couple of seconds,) you'll lose a life. The ant will turn white to tell you you'd better hurry up. If you lose all 4, the g lives, the game is over, and you can start again by pressing the fire button. -=CONTROLS=- In my entry for last year, you could only move Zyx left & right. Now, Melvin can move in all four directions. I shouldn't tell you that you use the joystick and I certainly shouldn't need to explain how to move Melvin. Fire button resets game at the end and has no effect during game play. There. -=OTHER INTERESTING STUFF=- Every 10 ants you get, the background color will change. Here's the breakdown for that: * 0-9 yellow * 10-19 a lovely shade of brown * 20-29 magenta * 30-39 green * 40-49 cyan * 50-59 gray * 60-69 red * 70-79 blue * 80-89 pink * 90-99 light brown after 99, colors repeat again. -=CREDITS=- Big thanx to those wonderful people at the AtariAge forums, and thanx for the fantastic people at the Minigame Competition for letting me show off whatever little programming skills I have, and thanx to my family, also.
