Side One:
1. Sweet Little Sixteen by Chuck Berry is one of the greatest rock & roll hits of the late '50s. It was later adapted by the Beack Bys into the 1963 hit "Surfin' USA"
2. You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' is Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield. The Righteous Brothers, at their soulful best. This #1 classic was produced by the legendary Phil Spector.
3. The Lion Sleeps Tonight, a number one hit by the Tokens, was recorded after one-time member Neil Sedaka had left the group.
4. Brown Eyed Girl" is a great 1967 Top 40, summertime classic by Van Morrison, an Irishman who began his music career as a leader of a group called Them.
5. Hang On Sloopy by the McCoys hit the top of the charts in 1965. The Ohio quartet was led by lead guitarist/snger Rick Derringer.
6. Chapel of Love by the Dixie Cups is another number one hit record from the mid '60s -- a time of great popularity for the American "girl group" sound!
Side Two:
1. House of the Rising Sun by the Animals is one of the great hits of Top 40's British invasion years. THe song was once recorded by Bob Dylan and many others.
2. La Bamba is a great 50's rock hit by guitarist Richie Valens---one of the rock & rollers killed in the plane crash that took Buddy Holly in 1959.
3. Cherish by the Association is one of the most beautiful love songs of the 60's--written by group leader Terry Kirkman
4. Happy Together is the biggest hit record Turtles [sic] ever recorded, and captures perfectly the zany, good-time Top 40 energy of that 60's band.
5. Leader of the Pack by the Shangri-Las was a chart-topper in 1964, the same year another teen tragedy song called "Last Kiss" was popular...morbid subject, but great Top 40 rock & roll!
6. California Dreamin' was the first hit by the Mamas and the Papas--a classic 60's anthem of leaving the winter cold for the sunshine of California.
