TV Guide Ads: 1997-98

Things have changed in 9 years. Lookit.

America's Funniest Home Videos is coming back? Hey, wait a minute, where's Bob Saget?! A better question is where's John Fugelsang? Replaced by Tom Bergeron, man of a million shows.

Did ABC actually think they could get away with using "Drew Carey becomes a stripper" and "There's never been a better time to own a TV" in the same ad?

Bug Hall is not a cartoon show. It's someone's name.

"Push." Born April 6, 1998, Died April 13, 1998. Yes, the show lasted all of 2 weeks before vanishing into obscurity. And I have every single Push ad ever made. Am I proud? No. Apparently being the producer of "Party of Five" doesn't help you very much.

1998 was the year of the end of one of America's most favorite sitcoms...

Oh, wait, I meant this:

1998 also brought us the beginnings of some new shows, like

and...

Ah yes, Mr. Bill Presents. This is the time when the Family Channel converted to the Fox Family Channel. This and bringing back "Garfield & Friends" and "Pee-Wee's Playhouse" were the only good things about the Fox Family Channel. And then, Fox decided they didn't want it and gave it to ABC.

The match-up you've all been waiting for...
