there was an old lady who swallowed a fly

I don't know why she swallowed the fly. Maybe she'll die. So while we're waiting to hear the health update to her, let's go outside and swat some flies. Fruit flies, to be exact. For you see, there's this banana on the ground. Your job is to guard it. Against the hungry onslaught of fruit flies...

the point of the game

As previously stated, your job is to guard your banana against the hungry fruit flies. Unfortunately, you don't have a machine gun. But you do have a fly swatter. But unfortunately, you're allergic to bees and hornet stings. And what's even worse is it's bee and hornet season, so they're also out in full force...

play the game, bub.

So to start a new game, you press the shiny red button on the controller. The joystick is how you move the fly swatter. To swat a fly, you press the red button. The faster you swat the fly, the more points you'll get. They'll be moving towards the banana though, so you'd better be quick. If you let a fruit fly be at the banana, he'll take a bite out of the banana. And then he'll move off screen. And then a new enemy will come on the screen. The goal is to get a lot of points and not let the banana disappear completely.

big fly fun

There are also these big huge flies that take two hits to down. They start coming out once you've reached 200 points. They are also hungry for bananas.

bees and hornets

Remember when I mentioned bees and hornets? Well, this is the section when I talk about them. These pesky bugs won't take bites out of your banana. All they want for Christmas is you. Bees and hornets will fly around the screen for a few seconds and then disappear. If your fly swatter touches one, the game ends. This is because you're allergic to them. The main difference between a bee and a hornet is the bees are orange and they fly in a straight line across the screen, while the hornets are really aggressive and actually chase your fly swatter. If the hornet doesn't get it after a few seconds, he'll give up and fly off the screen and a new enemy will come on the screen.

other stuff

  • There is no pattern for bees, flies or hornets to come on the screen. It's all random.
  • If you'd like, you can use the reset switch to end a game when you're playing one. If you use the reset switch, the game will end and your current score will be displayed.
  • If a game ends without the reset switch being used, there will be an ending noise, and the banana will pop back up on screen and your final score will be on the TV. Press the fire button and you'll start again, with the score reset to 0.
