Welcome. If you're not a resident of Salem, Oregon, here's the deal with Cherriots: The word is a play on the word "chariots." Salem used to be known as a city famous for cherries. Hence, you put the two together and get "Cherriots." Whoever thought up of that word needs a whole bunch of recognition. Anyway, I have some pretty historical things I've dug up on Cherriots.
